My Fellow North Carolinians,
We live in the greatest state in the country. From the beaches in east to the Piedmont to the mountains in the west, North Carolina is filled with talented people, incredible resources and unlimited potential.
It has been a privilege to travel this state to meet with people who have shared with me their stories of hard work, determination and hope. Those stories and relationships, from big cities to small towns and rural areas, will stay with me as I put my hand on the Bible and take the oath of office as your next governor.
My goal has never been to become governor simply for the title. My goal - our goal - is to lead the state we love to a better future. I promise to never lose that sense of wonder and humility that goes with the honor of a lifetime - to serve the people of North Carolina as governor of the state where I grew up and learned my deeply held values.
If we are going to start a Carolina comeback, we need to put politics aside and and bring all parts of the state together around a clear vision for North Carolina’s future. We must unleash our incredible resources so we as North Carolinians can fulfill our full potential.
This inauguration is only the start of an incredible journey. I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve our state and I am optimistic about the future we will create -- together.
